Common questions about oripa.cards, how it works, and what to expect.

About Oripa

Is this gambling?

Oripa is a mystery pack system — you pay a fixed price and receive a result from a finite pool. Every pack contains something, whether it is a card prize or Reward Points. The key difference from gambling is that the pool is finite, the contents are pre-committed, and every result is verifiable. There is no house edge that guarantees the platform profits on every transaction — in fact, the platform takes on real risk with every box.

That said, you are paying for a chance at a prize with uncertain value. Please play responsibly and only spend what you are comfortable with.

Is this the same as gacha?

No. Gacha uses an infinite pool with fixed odds. Oripa uses a finite, depleting pool where every prize is guaranteed to go to someone. You can read the full breakdown on our Oripa vs Gacha page.

How is this different from other mystery box platforms in crypto?

Most crypto mystery boxes use gacha mechanics — infinite pools with odds that are difficult to verify. oripa.cards uses a finite pool of real, physical trading cards with results pre-committed on-chain. Every result is verifiable and every prize is a real card in a vault.

Cards and Prizes

What kind of cards are in the boxes?

We carry graded cards from a growing range of trading card games, including Pokémon and One Piece. The specific cards in each box are listed on the box page before you open a pack.

What does "graded" mean?

Grading is when a professional service authenticates and scores a card's condition on a numeric scale. A higher grade means better condition and typically higher value. We use cards graded by recognized services:

  • PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) — the most widely recognized, scores 1–10
  • BGS (Beckett Grading Services) — known for stricter grading, scores 1–10 with subgrades
  • CGC (Certified Guaranty Company) — growing in popularity, scores 1–10

Each graded card comes in a sealed case (called a "slab") with a certificate number you can look up to verify authenticity.

What if I get Reward Points instead of a card?

Most packs in a box reward Reward Points (RP) rather than a card prize. RP is a spendable balance you redeem for real, physical products in the Reward Shop — sealed products, guards, slabs, and more added over time — which we then ship to you. Not every pack is a card winner, and that is how oripa works. The odds are visible upfront so you can decide if a box is worth it before you buy. See Points.

What is XP, and how is it different from Reward Points?

Reward Points are what you spend — a balance you redeem for real products in the Reward Shop. XP is what you earn and keep. You earn XP on every paid pack open, and from quests, and it is earned-only — never spent, traded, or cashed out. For now it builds your player level, a permanent record of how early and active you have been. Where XP leads beyond that is not something we are spelling out yet — but it never resets, so the points you bank now stay banked. See Points.

Playing

How do I pay?

You can open packs with USDC from your connected wallet, or through Coinflow using card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or supported USDC checkout. The pack opens only after payment settlement is verified.

What happens when I win a card?

You receive an NFT representing ownership of that specific physical card. The NFT is your proof of ownership — the actual card is stored securely in our vault until you choose to claim it.

How do I claim a physical card?

From your profile, you can request delivery of any card you own. You will provide a shipping address, receive a quote for shipping, and once confirmed, we ship the graded card to you. See Claiming & Shipping for the full flow, fees, and customs details.

Can I sell a card back?

Yes. Every card has a buyback option at a guaranteed floor price. If you would rather have the value back than the physical card, you can sell it back to the platform. You can also list it for sale or trade it with other players on the Marketplace.

What happens if a box does not sell out?

When a box goes stale — typically after the top prizes have been pulled and demand drops — we may retire it. The platform absorbs the cost of unsold packs. This is a known risk we build into our pricing model. You can read more on our Pack Pricing page.

Marketplace & Trading

Can I sell or trade my cards with other players?

Yes. On the Marketplace you can list a card for sale in USDC, buy cards other players have listed, make an offer on a card you want, or swap cards directly with another player. See Marketplace & Trading for how it all works.

What does the Marketplace cost?

A platform fee is taken from the USDC side of a sale or swap, and it is shown before you confirm. A pure card-for-card swap with no USDC has no fee.

Are Marketplace sales final?

Yes. Marketplace sales and swaps settle on-chain and cannot be reversed once completed. If you believe a transaction involved fraud or a platform error, contact support within seven days.

Shipping

How much does shipping cost?

When you claim a card, we pull a live carrier quote for your destination, so you see the real shipping cost before you confirm. You pay that shipping fee plus any redemption fee shown at checkout.

Do I pay customs or import duties?

On international shipments, customs duties, import taxes, and VAT/GST charged by your local jurisdiction are your responsibility. Delivery timelines are estimates and depend on vault processing, carrier availability, and customs clearance.

What happens to my NFT when I claim?

Claiming burns the card's NFT — it is removed from your wallet because the physical card is on its way to you and the digital claim has been fulfilled.

Referrals

How do referrals work?

Share your invite link from the Referrals tab in your profile. When a friend opens the link and signs in, your referral code is attached to their account. From then on you earn a 0.5% USDC commission on every paid pack they open — for the lifetime of their account — which you can withdraw as USDC. See Referrals for the full rules.

What counts toward referral commission?

Commission accrues on a referral's paid pack opens with USDC or Coinflow. Free opens and code-based opens do not count. The pack result does not matter — a qualifying paid open earns commission whether it reveals a card or Reward Points.

How do I get paid?

Your commission accrues to a USDC balance on the Referrals tab. Once your available balance reaches the $10 minimum, request a withdrawal and the team pays it out in USDC.

Can someone change who referred them?

No. Once a referral code is attached to an account, it cannot be replaced with a different code. The system also rejects self-referrals.

Trust and Fairness

How do I know the results are not rigged?

Every pack result is cryptographically committed before the box goes live. When you open a pack, the result is revealed along with the proof (seed and salt). You can independently verify that the result matches the original commitment. No one — including us — can change a result after commitment.

Free promotional packs opened with a redemption code are off-chain giveaways — they are not purchased and are not part of the on-chain commit-reveal.

How do I know the cards are real?

Every card prize is a professionally graded card with a certificate number from PSA, BGS, or CGC. You can look up any card's certificate on the grading service's website to verify its authenticity and grade.

What blockchain are you on?

We run on Monad, a fast, low-cost EVM blockchain. All pack commitments, opens, and results are recorded on-chain, where anyone can verify them.

Can I see what other people pulled?

Yes. Every open and its result is public and verifiable. You can see what has been pulled from any box, what prizes remain, and make your own decisions based on the current state of the pool.
