How to Play
The full flow on oripa.cards — from picking a box to claiming your prize.
The Lifecycle of a Box
Every box on oripa.cards follows the same lifecycle. Here is what happens from start to finish.
1. Cards Go Into the Vault
Real, graded trading cards are sourced, authenticated, insured, and stored securely. Each card has a grade (PSA, BGS, or CGC), a certificate number, and a documented value. These are the prizes that will go into the box.
2. The Box Is Assembled
A box is created with a fixed number of packs. Cards are assigned as prizes across those packs — some packs get high-value slabs, some get mid-tier cards, and the rest reward Reward Points (RP).
The pack price is set based on the total value of cards in the box, the number of packs, and the expected sell-through rate. Pricing is designed to keep the platform sustainable while giving players the best possible odds for each box.
3. Results Are Committed
Before the box goes live, every single pack result is locked in. Each result is sealed with a cryptographic commitment — a hash of the result combined with a unique seed and salt — and recorded on-chain.
This is the fairness guarantee. Once committed, no result can be changed. Not by the platform, not by anyone.
4. The Box Goes Live
Players can now see:
- The total number of packs in the box
- The full prize list — which cards are available
- The price per pack
- How many packs remain (updated in real-time)
5. Open a Pack
Pick a pack and pay with USDC from your wallet, or use Coinflow for card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or USDC checkout. Settlement triggers an on-chain transaction. The platform reveals your pre-committed result along with the cryptographic proof.
You can independently verify that the revealed result matches the original commitment. The math is public. The proof is on-chain.
If you win a card — you receive an NFT representing ownership of that physical card.
If you get Reward Points — most packs reward Reward Points (RP) rather than a card. RP is yours to redeem in the Reward Shop for real products — sealed products, guards, slabs, and more.
Either way, you earn XP. Every paid pack open also earns experience points (XP) toward your player level — pulling a card or Reward Points does not change that.
If you were referred — every paid pack you open earns the person who invited you a 0.5% USDC commission on your spend, for as long as you play. The commission is based on the paid pack open itself, not on whether the result is a card or Reward Points. See Referrals for the full rules.
6. After You Win
If you pulled a card, you have four options:
- Claim it — provide a shipping address, get a quote, and we will ship the graded card to you. See Claiming & Shipping.
- Hold the NFT — keep ownership on-chain, claim whenever you are ready
- Sell it back — use the buyback option at a guaranteed floor price
- List or trade it — sell it to another player for USDC, or swap it directly, on the Marketplace
The card is yours. The NFT proves it. How you handle it is up to you.
7. The Box Closes
A box can end in two ways:
- All packs opened — every prize has been distributed, the box is complete
- Box retired early — if a box goes stale after top prizes are pulled and demand drops, the platform may close it out
Either way, the full result set is recorded on-chain and auditable by anyone. Every commitment, every reveal, every proof — all verifiable.
The Fairness Proof
Every box uses a commit-reveal scheme:
- Commit — before launch, every pack result is hashed and stored on-chain
- Reveal — when a pack is opened, the result and proof (seed + salt) are revealed
- Verify — anyone can hash the revealed data and confirm it matches the original commitment
If the hashes match, the result was predetermined and unaltered. If they do not, something went wrong and it is provable. This is not "trust us" security. It is cryptographic proof that the game was played straight.
